Miami-Dade Announces a $3.9 Million Rockstar Marketing Package for the Airport, PortMiami and County Roads
The mayor’s office says the package includes the $975,000 Kaseya Center sign deal. Designs still need county approval.
Confirmed — Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s office announced it in a press release on October 28. The county calls it a marketing and advertising package “valued at $3.9 million” ahead of GTA VI’s November 19 release.
What it includes. An agreement between the county and Rockstar Games, plus separate advertising bought through the media companies that manage ad space at Miami International Airport and on the county’s transportation system. The earlier $975,000 deal for the Kaseya Center rooftop sign is counted inside the $3.9 million. The county says it is putting that money toward the planned park at Dan Paul Plaza.
What is planned: themed lighting at the airport and PortMiami, displays on the walkways from the airport garages to the terminals, and wraps on selected traffic signal cabinets. Rockstar pays to install, maintain and remove everything. The county adds that the designs “remain subject to County approval and will follow all County content guidelines.”
The mayor said: “These agreements allow us to turn that excitement into additional revenue for our community.” The release also says the cities of Miami and Miami Beach have completed their own advertising arrangements.
The limit of this story: this ends the stand-off we followed in our October 12 story, but the release does not say whether the commission voted on it or give install dates.
