Circana: 29% of US Console and PC Gamers Plan to Buy GTA VI, the Highest It Has Recorded

Circana’s PlayerPulse survey puts GTA VI’s purchase intent at 29%, a record in its tracking. Analyst Mat Piscatella expects it to drive console sales too.

Reported — this is Circana’s own survey data, published on October 28. It is a market-research figure, not a sales number, and Rockstar has not commented.

The number. Circana says GTA VI “currently holds a 29% purchase intent among U.S. console and PC gamers”, according to its PlayerPulse research. It calls this “the highest level recorded for a video game” in its tracking history.

What its analyst expects. Mat Piscatella said demand should reach “consoles, accessories, and gaming subscriptions”, and that “many consumers who have yet to upgrade to a current-generation console may choose to purchase a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series specifically to play the title.”

Circana adds that GTA V is the best-selling premium game in its US tracking by units and dollars, and has been in the US top 20 every year from 2013 to 2025.

The limit of this story: intent to buy is a survey answer. Circana does not say how many people it asked, and it is not a pre-order or sales count.
