Take-Two Shed Roughly $2.83 Billion in Market Value in Under Two Days

As the leaks spread from 18 August, Take-Two stock fell from $248.13 to $232.84 — about $2.83 billion of market value by one tally — before recovering part of it to $240.15.

The move began on 18 August, as footage circulated that suggested the leaker was running a playable build rather than replaying old test material. The share price went from $248.13 to $232.84, a drop of $15.29, and later recovered part of the ground to $240.15.

Read the number carefully. The $2.83 billion figure is a derived calculation — the reporting attributes it to "one tally", not to Take-Two. The company has not published a figure, and a share price that moves in a two-day window is not the same as money the business has lost. Treat it as a measure of how the market reacted, nothing more.

The same reporting notes the operation was not purely ideological: alongside its three stated demands — a disc release, no paywalled single-player DLC, and full offline access — it carried cryptocurrency advertising and ran a paid poll. That commercial angle is why several campaigners have told people not to send it money.
