How Long Is the Extended Look? The 30-Minute Figure Was Not Official
Before the premiere, a 30-minute runtime was widely repeated, including by the BBC, which later removed the line. A Netflix support chat said about 20 minutes. Update: the Extended Look aired on August 27; Netflix lists it at about 27 minutes.
Before the premiere, two numbers were circulating and neither came from Rockstar:
30 minutes — briefly shown as a duration in the Netflix app, and reported by the BBC as a 30-minute special (the BBC later removed the line). About 20 minutes — given by a Netflix customer-support chat.
Beebom, which reported the app glitch, cautioned that it “could well be a placeholder timestamp”.
What was actually confirmed before it aired was only what Rockstar published: it premiered on Netflix, Thursday, August 27, 3pm ET, then arrived on the Rockstar YouTube channel and the official GTA VI site at 9pm ET the same day.
Update (September 10, 2026): the Extended Look aired on August 27. Netflix lists it at about 27 minutes, captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.
