Rockstar Quietly Grants a Terminally Ill Fan Early Access to GTA 6
After a Ubisoft developer’s December LinkedIn appeal for a family member given 6–12 months to live, Rockstar reportedly arranged for them to play GTA 6 before launch. “We spoke to them today and got great news… thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
In December 2025, Ubisoft developer Anthony Armstrong posted an appeal on LinkedIn on behalf of a family member with a terminal diagnosis and 6–12 months to live: “The reason I am reaching out is that they are a huge GTA fan and, with this latest update, he may not be around long enough to actually get to see GTA 6 launch.”
Weeks later, Armstrong posted again: “We spoke to them today and got great news. That’s all I can really say, but thank you all from the bottom of my heart.” Per Gulf News, Rockstar arranged early access — reportedly a private playtest — ahead of the 19 November launch.
Rockstar never announced any of it. Neither the fan’s name nor the details were made public, which is probably exactly how it should be.
