Official Confirmed

Zelnick on GTA VI’s Price: No Number, but It Must Feel “Very Reasonable” — and the Aim Is “the Most Spectacular Piece of Entertainment on Earth”

At iicon in Las Vegas, Take-Two’s CEO declined to give a price. He said the job is to “charge way way way less of the value delivery”, and joked that many people will be “calling in sick on November 19”.

Confirmed — these are Strauss Zelnick’s own words, published by IGN from his session at iicon in Las Vegas on April 28. He declined to confirm a price, and nothing below is one.

On price: “Consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way way way less of the value delivery.” And: “how do we deliver something amazing, and how do we make sure that what people pay for it feels very reasonable.”

On the goal: “What we think about is making the most spectacular piece of entertainment on Earth, in history – and it’s a pretty daunting challenge. If we do that, and if we’re of service to our customers, then the upside will take care of itself.” He added that he thinks “a lot of people will be calling in sick on November 19.”

The limit of this story: in April Zelnick gave no figure. Rockstar set the prices itself when pre-orders opened on June 25.
