Rockstar’s Rupert Humphries: “We Don’t Have Time to Take You Everywhere” in GTA VI’s Story

Rockstar’s narrative chief says the story tours the map, but exploring the rest is up to you.

Reported — Dexerto quotes Rockstar’s Rupert Humphries, Senior Vice President of Narrative, from Game Informer’s issue 382 cover story: “Part of the job of the game’s story is to bring the player around the map in a way that feels authentic and interesting. We don’t have time to take you everywhere, but we want you to be able to explore and get a feel for most the places, cultures, and vibes.”

It follows Aaron Garbut’s “about twice the size” of GTA V’s map comment from the same feature. Together they say the story is a guided tour, not full coverage of Leonida.

The limit of this story: we have the quote only as Dexerto prints it (its wording “most the places” is reproduced as printed); the full interview is in Game Informer’s app, which we have not read ourselves. Rockstar has not said how many missions there are or which regions the story visits.

Corrected October 1, 2026: an earlier version said the interview was mostly behind a subscription. Rockstar says it partnered with Game Informer to make the cover story free in the Game Informer app.
