Official Confirmed

Rockstar’s Aaron Garbut: GTA VI’s Map Is “About Twice the Size” of GTA V’s

The first on-the-record size comparison from Rockstar itself, in Game Informer’s cover story — with “far more detail, density, interaction, and interiors.”

Confirmed — the comparison now comes from Rockstar. In Game Informer’s issue 382 cover story, Rockstar’s Aaron Garbut describes Leonida as “about twice the size of GTA V’s map, with far more detail, density, interaction, and interiors,” as quoted by RockstarINTEL; VGC reports the same comparison from the same feature.

Until now the figure rested on Rob Nelson’s words as relayed by TGG after a hands-on session (we labelled that Reported). This is Rockstar saying it in print.

The same feature, per those outlets, lists Leonida’s six regions (Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park) and activities including base jumping, billiards, gyms, kayaking, mini golf, scuba diving, racing, zoos, airboating and jet skiing.

The limit of this story: the quote is in the cover story, which Rockstar made free in the Game Informer app; we cite it as the outlets quote it; the wording differs slightly between them, and we use RockstarINTEL’s. “Twice the size” is still a comparison, not an area: Rockstar has published no square-kilometre figure.

Corrected September 30, 2026: an earlier version said the cover story was paid or paywalled. Rockstar says it partnered with Game Informer to make the cover story free in the Game Informer app.
