Official Confirmed

Tokyo Game Show Opens Tomorrow With a 300-Inch GTA VI Theatre on the PlayStation Booth — Sony’s Show, Not Rockstar’s

Sony’s TGS 2026 booth (September 17–21, Makuhari Messe) runs the Extended Look on a 300-inch screen with floor haptics, gives a co-branded T-shirt to everyone who sits through it, and a sticker set to anyone who posts about the booth with #PS5. No new footage, nothing playable, and no Rockstar booth.

Confirmed — announced by Sony Interactive Entertainment on the PlayStation Blog Japan on September 10 and detailed by AV Watch and GAME Watch the same day.

What is in the booth: a “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” theatre with a 300-inch screen and Sony’s floor haptics, which vibrate in time with the picture and sound. The film is the same roughly 27-minute Extended Look Rockstar released on August 27. Everyone who watches it through gets a “Grand Theft Auto VI | PlayStation” T-shirt — size L only, one per person, while stocks last. Posting expectations or impressions of the booth’s games with the #PS5 hashtag earns a three-piece GTA VI sticker set, also one per person. Business days are September 17–18; the public days are 19–21 (9:30–17:00, closing 16:00 on Monday, September 21, a public holiday in Japan). PlayStation Plus members could reserve demo slots from September 10, but those are for the playable titles — GTA VI is not one of them.

What is not there: new footage, a playable build, or Rockstar. There is no Rockstar Games or Take-Two booth at the show. Anything described this week as a “TGS reveal” is Sony’s marketing, not a Rockstar announcement.

The Japan push around it. Since early September Sony’s “It Happens on PS5” campaign has been running GTA VI on digital billboards across central Tokyo, alongside its own first-party titles, with retail displays playing the trailer next to empty pre-order boxes — reported by GamerSky and GTA BOOM from photos on the ground, not from a Sony release. Add the two GTA VI DualSense controllers on pre-order and the picture is a console maker leaning hard on a game it does not own. GTA VI is not a PlayStation exclusive; it launches on Xbox Series X|S the same day.

Corrected September 22, 2026: this story first called the Extended Look a 30-minute film. It runs roughly 27 minutes; Sony’s post gives no runtime.
