Analysis Reported

GTA VI Is Running at 30 FPS — and No 60 FPS Mode Has Been Promised

A creator who watched Rob Nelson play for over two hours says the game ran at 30 FPS, and that when he asked about a performance mode Nelson said he would need to check with the technical team about 60 FPS “at launch (or in the future)”.

Reported, not Confirmed, and the chain is the reason. Nelson demonstrated the game to YouTuber Davy Jones at Rockstar North; Jones described it on his Portuguese-language podcast Flow Games; the English-language coverage works from a machine translation of that account. Rockstar has published nothing about frame rate. That is three removes from the source and one language away, so it carries a Reported tag until Rockstar states a number itself.

What the account actually supports: the build shown in late August ran at 30 FPS, and Rockstar would not commit to a 60 FPS option either at launch or later. Kotaku’s headline is firmer than the translated quote it rests on.

What is not established, whatever the headlines say: this is not a published specification, it is not a statement about any particular console, and it is not a promise that the number is final. GTA V only gained a 60 FPS option with its later PS5/Xbox Series X|S version. A demo build in August is not a shipping build in November.
