The Fired Rockstar Devs Don't Want a Boycott: “Win Justice for the People Who Helped Make It”
The 30+ developers fired in October 2025 while organising with the IWGB have a message that cuts against the discourse: buy the game. “Don't boycott GTA 6. Win justice for the people who helped make it.” Their union-busting claims go to trial in September — support the legal fund, they say, not a boycott.
Context from our earlier union story, updated: more than 30 Rockstar developers were dismissed in October 2025 amid an organising drive with the IWGB, which filed union-busting claims that November. Rockstar's position is that they were fired for leaking information. The trial begins September 2026 — weeks before launch.
Their ask of players is deliberate: no boycott. “We want people to experience the universe that we helped build,” one said — the fight is with the employer, not the game. Support, they suggest, looks like funding the legal battle, not skipping Leonida.
However the trial lands, its timing guarantees the labour story and the launch story collide this autumn.
