Nintendo of America’s President on GTA VI for Switch 2: “A Conversation for Take Two and Rockstar”
Devon Pritchard told Variety she has “nothing to announce.” Headlines saying Nintendo confirmed the console can run the game go further than her quote.
Confirmed — that she said it. Devon Pritchard, president of Nintendo of America, was asked by Variety whether GTA VI could come to Switch 2, in an interview published October 9. We read the interview ourselves.
Her full answer, as printed: “That’s going to be a conversation for Take Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time.”
What she did not say. Several headlines read “Nintendo says the Switch 2 can run GTA 6.” The line behind that — that the console “certainly has the horsepower to host the M-rated ‘GTA 6’” — is Variety’s own sentence, not a quote from Pritchard. The same goes for the remark that the Ocarina of Time remake is “the only high-profile game brave enough” to launch near GTA VI: that is the writer’s aside.
The limit of this story: no Switch 2 version of GTA VI has been announced by Rockstar, Take-Two or Nintendo. The game is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. This is an executive declining to comment, nothing more.
