A Giant “Welcome to Vice City” Sign Is Being Built for the Roof of the Miami Heat’s Arena
Pink and white lettering with the VI logo and what look like LEDs, destined for the roof of the Kaseya Center — angled to be read from aircraft landing in Miami. The deal is still being finalised, and Rockstar has announced nothing.
Reported — from a local journalist and photographs of the sign under construction. Rockstar has published nothing about it, and no party has confirmed a signed agreement.
Who is involved: Basketball Properties, the Miami Heat affiliate that operates the arena, together with Miami-Dade County and Rockstar Games, are reported by journalist Francisco Alvarado to be finalising an agreement for a rooftop sign at the Kaseya Center in downtown Miami.
What has actually been seen: the sign itself, part-built. Pink and white lettering, the VI logo, and what appear to be LEDs for night illumination. It is described as going up next month, positioned to be visible from above — which is to say, to everyone flying into Miami.
How it fits the rest. This is the downtown half of the same real-world campaign as the Miami Beach vote: understated branding, “Vice City” and “VI” rather than the game’s name, timed at the November 19 launch. Taken together it is the largest physical marketing push the series has attempted.
Why it is Reported and not Confirmed: a sign being fabricated is evidence that somebody intends to put it up, not that a contract exists. Deals get renegotiated and signs get repurposed. When Rockstar or the county publishes something, we will say so.
Corrected September 22, 2026: this story originally said the sign reads “Welcome back to Vice City”, as one outlet reported. Miami-Dade County, a party to the deal, describes it as a “Welcome to Vice City” sign, and the other reports we cite do not use the word “back”. We have removed it. The county has since confirmed the deal — see our story on the mayor’s signature.
