How Long Is the Extended Look? The 30-Minute Figure Is Not Official
A 30-minute runtime has been widely repeated, including by the BBC. But a Netflix support chat said about 20 minutes, and the same 30-minute value showed up against unrelated titles — a strong hint it is a placeholder. Rockstar has stated no runtime.
Three numbers are circulating and none of them came from Rockstar:
30 minutes — briefly shown as a duration in the Netflix app, and reported by the BBC as a 30-minute special. About 20 minutes — given by a Netflix customer-support chat. 15–18 minutes — pure fan prediction, with nothing behind it.
There is a specific reason to distrust the 30-minute figure despite the BBC repeating it: the same 30-minute value appeared against unrelated Netflix titles, including Breaking Bad. A duration that shows up identically across unrelated entries looks like a placeholder or an app bug, not a real runtime.
What is actually confirmed is only what Rockstar published: it premieres on Netflix, Thursday 27 August, 3pm ET, then arrives on the Rockstar YouTube channel and the official GTA VI site at 9pm ET the same day. Rockstar has not stated a runtime, and it has not said the showcase contains gameplay — that is press expectation, not an announcement. We will update this page once the thing actually airs.
