GTA VI Needs PS5 Firmware 14.22 to Play, a Store-Tracker Account Claims

PlayStation Game Size says the PS5 version lists system software 14.22.00.00 as its minimum. Sony released that update on November 2. Rockstar and Sony have not commented.

Unverified — Push Square reported on November 2 that, according to the store-tracking account PlayStation Game Size, GTA VI on PS5 needs a console running system software 14.22.00.00 to play. Push Square calls this “entirely their reporting based on their own findings”. It says the requirement had earlier been reported as 14.10.00.00 at the start of October, and that the 14.22 update went live on November 2.

Push Square and Wccftech link the change to Sony’s recent run of firmware updates against PS5 jailbreaks. That link is their reading; neither Sony nor Rockstar has said why a version is required.

What it means in practice: a PS5 that is kept up to date will meet it. A console held back on older firmware would need the update before the game runs.

The limit of this story: one tracker account reading the PlayStation Store backend, no official listing or statement. The 210 GB download-size claim comes from a similar account and is also unconfirmed.
