Midnight, Local Time: PlayStation Store Data Puts New Zealand First and the US Near Last
GTAVice.net compiled unlock times from regional PlayStation Store listings, which fall into 15 release windows. Digital copies open from 11:00 UTC on November 18 in New Zealand to 06:00 UTC on November 19 in Mexico and Central America — a 19-hour spread.
Reported: these are timestamps in Sony’s store listings, not a table Rockstar has published, and GTAVice.net itself notes that Sony or Rockstar could change them before launch.
The pattern is midnight in each store’s own time zone. New Zealand opens at 11:00 UTC on November 18 (midnight NZDT). Most of western and central Europe follows at 23:00 UTC, the UK and Ireland at 00:00 UTC on the 19th, and the US and Canada at 05:00 UTC — midnight Eastern, which is 9pm on the 18th on the West Coast. Mexico and Central America are last, at 06:00 UTC.
The “play it in New Zealand first” trick is harder than it sounds on PlayStation: a PSN account’s region is tied to the account, so it needs a separate New Zealand account. Xbox unlock times have not been published the same way. The full table is on our release date page.
