Rockstar’s Chinese Upload of the Extended Look Is Blurred — the Other Trailers Are Not
On Rockstar’s official Bilibili channel the Extended Look was replaced on August 31 with a version that blurs suggestive dancing, bloodied bodies, underwear and smoking. Trailers 1 and 2 on the same channel are untouched.
Reported — Kotaku and IGN both checked Rockstar’s own Bilibili channel and link the edited upload (below). Bilibili blocked our own attempt to open it, so we have not checked it first-hand. It was first spotted by GTAForums user BDF and spread from there. Rockstar has not explained the swap.
What was blurred: nightclub dancing, bodies with blood on them, underwear and cleavage, and smoking. The uncut version went up first and was replaced on August 31.
What it does not show is a censored game. Kotaku points out that Rockstar’s own website, reached from China, still plays the unedited video with Chinese subtitles, and the earlier trailers on Bilibili were left alone. Why it was edited is not established — Rockstar has not said. What is established is narrower: one video, on one platform, was changed.
Corrected September 22, 2026: this story was labelled Confirmed on the strength of Kotaku and IGN alone. That is Reported under this site’s rules, and the label has changed. We have added the Bilibili upload the two outlets link.
